I have been married to my husband for three years and he just left me. Can I get spousal support?

The answer in most cases is you cannot get spousal support when the marriage is as short as three years. You would have to be able to show great need in order to convince a judge to award you spousal support. What you would likely have to show is that due to some sort of disability you are unable to work and your husband has substantial assets. Normally when a marriage is ten years or longer the court considers spousal support for a period of time. In marriages that are twenty years or longer the general rule is that spousal support can be awarded for life or until the spouse remarries.
