If I have joint legal custody does that mean I have to approve what school my child goes to?

Joint legal custody means that you have 50% say on what school your children attend. Your former spouse cannot place your child in a pre-school, or daycare or private school without your permission. If you cannot agree with your former spouse as to the school your child should attend you can seek the guidance of a family law lawyer or mediator to try to resolve the issue. If you cannot resolve the issue then one parent will have to bring a motion in court to have the court decide. It is far better to “mediate” an agreement because going to court can be very expensive in terms of legal fees.
