Octomom Investigated for Possible Child Dependency Violations

The nation’s most infamous single mother, Nadya Suleman (aka Octomom), is facing a possible child dependency case in family court and could lose her children.  Police and welfare services showed up at Suleman’s La Habra home after receiving a complaint that her 14 children are living in squalor.

According to some reports, the complaint came from Suleman’s hair dresser, who alleged that there was only one working toilet in the entire house and that children were using potty training toilets in their bedrooms when then needed to go to the bathroom.

Suleman made headlines a few weeks ago when she went on food stamps.  The single mother claimed that she would never accept public assistance to raise her 14 children after national outrage over her use of a fertility clinic led the unemployed mother of six to get pregnant with octuplets.

The fact that Suleman is on public assistance would suggest that she would have a hard time hiring a quality Orange County family law attorney if a child dependency case is brought against her.

After an initial inspection of her home, welfare officials said that they did not find anything unusual in Suleman’s home, and no action has been taken at this time.

That isn’t always the way these cases work out.  We get calls on a daily basis from parents who have had their lives torn apart by overzealous child welfare workers.  There is nothing more precious to a parent than their children, which is why it is crucial to contact a family lawyer the instant you find out that you are under investigation for a possible child dependency case.
