A recent article on yahoo finance details the Child Support Directors Association of California (CSDA) and their joining the “Get Back On The Road Again Program”. The program is a collaborative effort of the California State Department of Child Support Services (DCSS), the CSDA and the local child support agencies in each of the California counties as a way to encourage the timely payment of child support.
Many people do not know that one of the penalties for failing to pay child support can be a suspended license. For those that have had their license suspended, they can appear in a child support agency office on specific dates in August, to attempt to have their driving privilege reinstated. Driver’s Licenses will be granted to those individuals who:
- Make a payment equal to one month of their child support obligation,
- Make an additional payment of at least $25 towards arrears,
- Provides his or her current employment status and if applicable provides information regarding his or her employer
Parents interested in participating in the “Get Back on the Road Again” program may visit the DCSS website at www.childsup.ca.gov for specific dates and county locations or may call toll free 1 (866) 901-3212.
