Justin Bieber Could Be on the Hook for Millions in Paternity Suit

On October 31st, a 20 year old woman filed a paternity suit against Justin Bieber, claiming he was the father of her 3-month-old child following a brief tryst at the Staples Center in Los Angeles last year. If in fact it turns out to be true that Mr. Bieber is the father of this child then he will be responsible for child support for that child until the child is 18 years of age. It does not matter that Mr. Bieber was only 16 years old at the time of conception. If he is the “legal father” of the child then child support will be awarded. The amount of child support is based upon the parents respective incomes and the percentage of time each parent has custody of the child. If Mr. Bieber earns millions of dollars per year and has limited contact with this child (if he is determined to be the father of the child) and if the 19 year old woman has little or no income, then we can expect to see a very large child support order being made in this case.

What may happen next is the parties will be required to take paternity blood and DNA testing to determine who is the father of this child. A few minutes of “pleasure” could end up costing Mr. Bieber millions of dollars in child support if it turns out he is the father of this child.
