If you are about to go through a custody and visitation battle in court, you might be looking for a family lawyer to represent you. If so, here are some points of advice that you should follow to make sure you are prepared for your consultation with a child custody and visitation lawyer.

First

You will want to gather as much evidence as possible. Do you think your child’s grades in school are slipping because the other parent is doing something wrong? Get a copy of your child’s grades. Get copies of your child’s homework that s/he does with you and with the other parent. Speak with your child’s teacher/s to see whether they have any feedback on how your child is doing in school. Do you think the other parent’s new partner treats your child poorly? Get proof. Speak to the neighbors to see if the new partner is constantly yelling. You get the idea. If there is an issue you want to bring up in court, think about what kind of evidence will support your position, and go out and find that evidence.
