Additionally, on a showing of good cause, the court my order the protected person exclusive care, possession, or control of any animal owned, kept or held by either party or a minor child residing in either party’s residence or household. Therefore, the restrained person is prohibited from taking, transferring, concealing, molesting, attacking, striking, threatening, harming, or otherwise disposing of the animal. It is important to note, that the trial court’s discretion in DVPA matters is more liberal than its discretion to restrain civil harassment generally under California Code of Civil Procedure Section 527.6.
