You will get your order on the same day you come to court if your papers are completed correctly and submitted to the Clerks Office before 4:30 p.m.  There are many forms that need to be completed and certain facts and details that need to be included in your forms in order to get the restraining order.  Once the documents are taken to the clerk’s office they will send you to a department where the judge will review and grant or deny your temporary restraining order.  The court will not hear the case, but base their decision on the documents that are filed, so it is important to make sure they are done properly.  The court will set a court date to address the permanent restraining order.  Restraining orders can last up to five years.
