At the Pomona Courthouse, the parties are informed of the name of their mediator in advance. Each party is given a “peremptory challenge,” which will allow each party to disqualify one mediator if they believe the mediator is biased or for some other reason. This peremptory challenge must be made prior to the mediation, thus it is important that you hire an attorney that knows the local mediators so that a challenge can be made if your attorney believes the mediator would be bias towards the opposing party.
