Individuals often find themselves in trouble with the court for failing to pay their court ordered spousal or child support. In a surprising number of cases, the person stops paying spousal or child support because of a change in their financial circumstances.

In California, a person is entitled to have a modification of court ordered spousal and/or child support if there has been a change in their financial circumstances. In light to the current economic climate, many people find that they are no longer making the income they were making when the court first calculated support obligations.

The worst thing a person can do is to simply stop paying court ordered support. If you find yourself in a situation were you can no longer meet your support obligations, it is imperative that you meet with an attorney to review your order.
